Health and Condition Surveys

We provide two different types of survey within Glasgow and the central belt:

  1. BS5837: Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction.

    • This survey will be required if you are applying for planning permission and have trees on or close to the property/proposed construction site.

    • Usually these will entail an initial survey, a tree constraints plan and then an arboricultural impact assessment. Further site visits may be required throughout or at the end of the construction process

  2. Health and Condition:

    • Health and Condition surveys are a useful tool for maintaining your trees. They are also an essential component of meeting your 'common law' duty of care as an owner under the Occupiers Liability Acts (Scotland,) which expects you to take reasonable steps to ensure visitors or trespassers on your land are safe.

    • These surveys are sometimes required to gain permission to work on trees under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), or certain conservation areas. Additionally, for domestic owners of large trees the surveys can offer peace of mind or a professional second opinion.

    • We offer two types of surveys:

      • Full surveys: all trees are tagged and written up in a report

      • Negative survey: all trees are inspected but only those requiring remedial works are written up (usually the more cost-effective option)

Please get in touch for a quote for either of the above surveys.
